Explore the cradle of civilisation on this 5 day private tour, and learn the history of this ancient region with your private guide.  See the unique stone houses of Mardin, the magnificent stone heads on Mount Nemrut, and countless other sites on this unforgettable experience.

Day 1- Istanbul – Diyarbakir
Fly from Istanbul to Diyarbakir, and be met by your guide at the airport. Explore Diyarbakir and visit the city within its magnificent walls.  After lunch in the historic Caravanserai, travel to the ancient city of Hasankeyf on the Tigris river. Visit the Castle of Hasankeyf, Little and Grand Palaces and the Grand Mosque.  Travel to Mardin and stay overnight.

Day 2 – Mardin

After breakfast, travel to the ancient Syriac town of Midyat  to visit the Purple Barsovo Church and see traditional Midyat houses.  Return to the ancient city of Mardin which has been continually occupied since 4000 BC, and begin your tour of this architecturally unique city. Stay overnight in Mardin.

Day 3 – Mardin – Sanli Urfa

After breakfast, continue your tour of Mardin and visit Deyr-uz Zafaran Monastery, Kasimiye Medrese, Ulu Mosque and the bazaar. After lunch, drive to Urfa and visit Abraham's sacred fish pool, Halil-Ur  Rahman Mosque, Rizvaniye Mosque and Urfa's old bazaar. Stay overnight in Urfa.

Day 4 – Harran – Mt. Nemrut – Kahta

After breakfast drive to Harran and visit the Castle of Harran, City Walls, Grand Mosque and visit the traditional Conic Houses.  After lunch drive to the Ataturk Dam on the Euphrates.

Continue to Mt. Nemrut and climb to the summit and marvel at the mighty stone heads of King Antiochus and others that are buried here and take in the spectacular views whilst the sun sets.  Depart for your hotel at Kahta.

Day 5 – Gazi Antep – İstanbul

Visit the Karakus Tumulus a 35m high monument was constructed by Mithridates II to hold the royal ladies of Commagene. Continue to the Septimus Severus Bridge, one of the best preserved Roman stone bridges in Turkey.  Visit Arsemeia, the former summer capital of the Comagene kingdom.  After lunch in Gaziantep, visit the Archaeological Museum and the nearby ancient town of Zeugma. Return to Gaziantep airport for your return flight to Istanbul (or elsewhere if required).
